A Harmony of Drivers, A Lasting Sound

by | Jan 6, 2026 | IEM, Reviews

The rise of Simgot this year has been great this past few years with respectable releases such as the EA500, EA1000, EG280, ET142 and many, many more garnering praise for their high quality products that have a rather spot-on pricing. One of their greatest releases in my opinion would be the SuperMix4 with their blend of a dynamic, a piezoelectric, a balanced armature and a planar which is no small feat tuning those drivers in cohesion but surprisingly, the SuperMix4 proves to be a hit for their amazing sound quality that punches above their asking price. As the year of 2025 is closing up, Simgot has decided to extend the lineage by introducing the all new SuperMix5 with an update on the drivers sporting a dynamic, 2 balanced armatures, a micro planar and a bone conduction driver in a luxurious black shell. Will they be another hit? We shall find out here.

We’d like to thank Linsoul for providing a sample of the all new Simgot SuperMix5 for review and do head to their shop for a vast catalogue of audio products to choose from. As always, we are not affiliated with Sivga, have received no monetary compensation, and our assessment will reflect our honest, opinionated perspective.

Packaging & Accessories

The packaging here looks professional with a rectangular light purple box and they have an iridescent, shiny look to them. Inside we will be greeted with the IEM head and the vast accessories that come with it. Pretty luxurious and well worth their price.

Inside the Box

  • 1x Pair of SIMGOT SuperMix 5 In-Ear Monitors
  • 1x Detachable Premium Cable
  • 1x Carrying Case
  • 6x Eartips
  • 1x 3.5mm Adapter
  • 1x 4.4mm Adapter
  • 1x Warranty Card / Thank You Note

The accessories here are high quality and the eartips come with their own magnetic hard case with Simgot branding on them. The cable is a 4 core braided with high quality metal parts and they are a modular cable with 3.5mm and 4.4mm head. The hard case is made from PU leather and they have 2 elastic bands for the modular head on top. Pretty nifty case and beautiful cable as well.

Design

The design language here is the usual CIEM style medical grade resin with anodized aluminum alloy faceplates in black and the insignia of SM which stands for the SuperMix laser cut in gold. The whole theme here is simple but premium to my eyes and the build here is exquisite with no gaps as well as good polishing showcasing an attention to details by Simgot. There is the configuration of the SuperMix5 stamped on the upper part of the shell. The weight is light with a medium sized shell that is ergonomically comfortable.

The inside is where the selling point of the SuperMix5 is, consisting of 5 drivers where a single dynamic, dual balanced armatures, a micro planar and a new bone conduction driver is implemented, making them a quadbrid IEM. It is equipped with a diamond like carbon with a flexible surround on the diaphragm that gives a deep bass response and supported by a bone conduction driver to add extra texture. The midrange is driven by 2 of, what Simgot calls, large volume type balanced armatures while the high range duties falls to a micro planar driver. Blending this many driver types isn’t a small feat especially at this price point.

The nozzle here has a width of 6.5mm at the tip and they are fitted with a steel mesh protecting them against dust and moisture. The nozzle is made from aluminium alloy and has a decent length making eartips rolling easier.

There are 2 pinhole vents where one is situated at the faceplate below the Insignia for the back venting of the dynamic driver  and another one near the nozzle for pressure relief. The SuperMix5 is a very well vented pair of IEM that doesn’t possess any flex and they have a decent isolation without any pressure build up issues.

The 0.78mm connectors are the standard flush 2 pin 0.78mm.

The cable included is a high quality oxygen free copper with a Litz structure in 4 cores and they are a modular type of cable. The cable looks great and feels very well made worthy of their asking price. The parts are made from metal with black connectors suiting the whole black theme.

Tone and Presentation

The tone of the SuperMix5 is based on the Harman 2019 target but with a twist. They have a mildly boosted low range partly due to the bone conduction driver and having a slightly bright light with some warmth added to the mix does prevent it from being too safe or boring. The overall sound here is tuned in a well balanced sound with all the frequencies fully present with no gaps or hollow feel. Technicalities here are superb with great details across the spectrum and a clarity that gives the SuperMix5 a revealing sound that is suitable for both critical users as well as a fun, casual listener. While monitoring is possible on the SuperMix5, they aren’t tuned to a clinical sound that is dead neutral as the SuperMix5 has a rather energetic forward sound.

Soundstage

The soundstage here is wide and expansive with a good height to them partly due to an added dimension of the bone conduction driver that slightly projects the sound inwards. Their presentation here is actually quite intimate and has a free field sound but they surprisingly managed to sound quite spacious and open. They have a great amount of air present across the whole frequencies especially the lows and having a great amount of extension does give the SuperMix5 a rather big headroom size that is free of any boxiness. The spatial positioning is decent and immersively spacious, suitable even for gaming and movies.

Separation and Timbre

Separation is great with a decent stereo separation that is wide and has no crosstalk issue even but with a 4.4mm balanced setup, they do scale pretty decently here, giving a wider, cohesive separation. Timbre here is organic, warm, rich and smooth, giving a highly musical sound experience that is enjoyable while still having an accurate sound. Cohesion here is good even as for a quadbrid, Simgot has actually nailed the tuning as there aren’t any major cohesion issues and the drivers blend together to give a wide, full sound with no gaps.

Drivability

Rated at 19 ohms with a 120 db sensitivity, they are easily driven by any source, providing ample loudness even on basic dongles. Scalability here is average as with better sources and bigger driving power, improvements are rather minor albeit still audible. Their slightly high sensitivity actually does pick up noise in a small way, so a clean source will actually benefit the SuperMix5. They aren’t a picky type of IEMs but a well mastered track and also high bitrates track will give a cleaner, clearer overall sound.

The Bass (Low)

The bass here is neutral with a mild boost in the mid-bass and they do possess a dynamic bass with a touch of uniqueness of a bone conduction driver. The bone conduction driver does give some extra texture rather than a vibrating feel and the effects are actually minor but still audible. Details and clarity here is great with a full, deep, rich bass that has a fast response, enabling them to keep up with fast, bassy tracks. The bass here is more towards a quality over quantity situation where the amount is relatively neutral but they do possess the authority when called upon. The bass slam has a mild tightness to them and they do have a vivid resolving bass that is highly enjoyable suiting a vast range of genres. The sub-bass amount is slightly less than the mid-bass but they are able to dive deep and have a good amount of rumble that makes the overall low region full and impactful. The bass actually does suit minor bassheads but not for those who seek a dominant, strong bass.

The Mids

Midrange is neutral with a slightly forward, warm mids that has a good amount of body that gives a rich and luscious sound that is velvety. The mids here has a balanced approach with a smooth transition from the lower mids to the upper mids as well that produces a full sounding midrange. The details here are great that balances well with the macro and micro details. It possesses a clean and clear midrange that is natural and quite accurate. Due to their slight forwardness, they have a good intimate sound that makes a certain sound close to your ears but that also makes the mids a little less spacious. Resolution here is vivid with a touch of coloration present giving more soul into the mids without sacrificing much accuracy. Transparency here is decent without any major alterations to the original sound. Vocals are balanced with a decent amount of brilliance and depth for both male and female vocals while also having an intimate presentation. Instruments for most sounded great but for some strings like violins do sound a tad unnatural for their mild colouration.

The Highs

The high here is mostly flat without any major peaks and they have a mild bright tone that is inoffensive while having a good presence and extension. The highs are sparkly and they are crisp producing a lively high range that blends well with their overall sound presentation. There is a mild peak in the 8 to 10kHz region that gives some bite into the overall high range but the highs here are smooth and free from any sibilance. The new generation of micro planars highs seems to be a very good candidate for being quite close to an electrostatic driver signature as they are airy, refined and possess a high degree of detail without being too harsh. The high range amount is actually just right for being inoffensive while still having a good presence alongside a natural timbre. Treble here is balanced and although tilting slightly towards the relaxed side, they are able to sound lively and energetic without being too laid-back.

Comparisons

VS Ziigaat Horizon

One of the more recent releases from Ziigaat, the Horizon. Equipped with a single dynamic driver, 2 balanced armatures and 2 micro planars, they are a competent neutral bright IEM that has superb technicalities. The high range is driven by the micro planars which is similar with the SuperMix5 but the overall tone of the Horizon has a brighter sound that focuses on the high range where the SuperMix5 has a more forgiving treble. Price wise they are similar with the Horizon priced slightly higher.

High range is stronger on the Horizon with a bigger amount of sparkle and an extra crispness with a little more clarity and details but the SuperMix5 sounded more natural with less and more suited for treble sensitive users. The slightly dialled back treble of the SuperMix5 does have smoother highs but the Horizon has  better air and extension with more energy.

The midrange on the SuperMix5 sounded fuller and thicker with a more vivid, coloured sound while the Horizon had a more spacious, accurate midrange. Transparency on the Horizon is better due to the less coloration. Vocals on the SuperMix5 have better intimacy with a more forward sound.

Bass quantity on both of these sets are similar in amount and quality side by side. Sub-bass is a little more present on the SuperMix5 with a deeper rumble. Texture also seems a tad better on the SuperMix5 probably due to the bone conduction driver.

Soundstage on the Horizon is slightly bigger with a more open sound.

Verdict: Horizon for the treble lovers and has better details and a more fun sound signature while the SuperMix5 has better accuracy due to their Harman tuning.

VS Kiwi Ears Etude

The Etude from Kiwi Ears are a hybrid from the unique audio company Kiwi Ears. Equipped with a single dynamic driver, 3 balanced armatures and a vibration driver or KVT (Kiwi Vibration Transducer), they are a special tribrid with a rather friendly price, slightly cheaper than the SuperMix5. The vibration driver does have a similar ring to the SuperMix5 as they will vibrate a similar way when the IEM is being touched but the Etude effect is more evident. The vibration driver does give a more physical addition while the bone conduction driver on the SuperMix5 has a more audible feel.

Highs on the SuperMix5 do sound a little brighter and crisper with an extra airiness. Sparkle on both are similar with a lively sound but the SuperMix5 do sound more detailed while clarity is almost the same.

The midrange of the Etude do sound more accurate with less coloration and has better transparency while the SuperMix5 has a more forward mids that has better intimacy but all these are minimal. Details are better on the SuperMix5 with better clarity and resolution.

Bass amount of both sets are similar has a bigger impact but the amount of mid-bass is almost the same. Extension and air is also better with a deeper and stronger sub-bass rumble. Clarity and texture sounded better on the Nightingale with slightly cleaner bass.

Soundstage on Nightingale Pro does sound wider and a tad airer.

Verdict – The Aether is better in the sense of being more well balanced but it lacks the organic, lushness sound present in the Nightingale Pro.

Synergy

The SuperMix5 doesn’t need much power to be driven to ample loudness and the scalability here is rather average so most setup will suit them rather well. Preferably, I would prefer more energy on the top and some Sabre based chipset setup will actually give them more bite in the higher range. I do find AKM chipset a tad too warm and with the slight coloration on the SuperMix5, they tend to sound too thick.

Good synergy

FiiO BTR7, Hidizs S8 Pro, Questyle M15, Time Ear BTE9 , Qudelix T71, EPZ TP35, FiiO Q7, EPZ TP30

Not so good synergy

Who Is It For?

Suitable for – Classicals, instrumentals, rock, metal, ACG, EDM, hip-hop, casual listening

Not really suitable – acoustics, monitoring

Final words

Building on the success of the SuperMix 4, the SuperMix5 is a true successor, retaining the usual Harman signature with a fun twist in its tuning. Coordinating this many types of drivers in this price bracket is no small feat, and Simgot has executed it masterfully. The bone conduction driver, subtle but effective, adds an extra dimension and improves texture, elevating the overall listening enjoyment. While having a Harman target, the tuning avoids sounding overly safe as Simgot injects some excitement without compromising the overall technicalities. In conclusion, the Simgot SuperMix 5 has firmly stamped its authority in the competitive sub 200USD segment. It’s a set I believe will remain compelling throughout the year and likely beyond. Great job, Simgot.

I would rate this product a 4 and half over 5 stars.
