Last year, we had the chance to review their hybrid MS2 Pro, which debuted the new Silvercore balanced armature and impressed with its detail and clarity. This year, Hidizs is back with a special edition sequel, the My Lin, using the same drivers but with a distinctly different tuning, all wrapped in vibrant anime-inspired packaging. Priced at $129, it’s aimed squarely at enthusiasts who love both high-quality sound and anime aesthetics. So, how will this new earphone perform? Let’s find out here.

The packaging is actually pretty great for the price and perfect for the anime fans in my opinion and they are packed to the brim. The packaging is similar to their pricier products and they are lavishly packaged with the Lim stickers, cleaning cloth and an acrylic stand of Lin.

Design

The design is rather unique and industrious with a similar shape and materials of the MS2 Pro with robust zinc alloy casted body but the faceplate is now a forged carbon plate with some purplish iridescent specks encased in resin. The design is futuristic and has an ergonomic fit that fits even smaller ears. It does has some heft to it atypical of a zinc alloy shell but never heavy.

The My Lin is a hybrid that is driven by the newly developed balanced armatures by Hidizs codename the Silvercore. These are specifically tuned drivers to provide a smooth yet energetic high range with a more natural sound reproduction than conventional balanced armatures. The Silvercore is assisted by a single 10mm Polyurethane+Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) diaphragm with nano Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating with N52 dual-magnetic circuit enhances MY LIN’s technical performance, improving control and speed.

The nozzles are the famed Hidizs Pneumatic Filters and come in 3 distinct sounds;

🔴 Charm Red – Balanced

⚫ Midnight Black – Low Frequency

⚪ Crystal Clear – High Frequency

The My Lin has a standard flush 0.78mm 2 pin connector.

There are 2 vents present here where for the back vent, there is a rather larger rectangular vent on the faceplates to give the dynamic driver some breathing room and another pinhole vent near the nozzle for pressure relief. These are a well vented pair of IEM that doesn’t have pressure build up and no flex were present.

The cable provided is a high quality, high-purity oxygen-free copper cable in a 4 core braided design that is soft and pliable. The cables are available in 3.5km and 4.4mm.

Tone and Presentation

The tone of the My Lin is a balanced tone with a slight lean towards the bright side and they have a L shaped sound that put a mild focus on the lower region. They possess decent technicalities that produce solid imaging and good overall details and clarity that competently in their asking price. They are tuned to have some warmth in the mids as opposed to the rather clinical, sterile sound of the MS2 Pro, thus having a more musical sound. Dynamic range here is wide with deep lows and extended high range that is airy and energetic.

Soundstage

My Lin possesses a decent but average price for their asking price. It has a good width and height soundstage but it does have an intimate, near field tuning rather than being diffused. The soundstage has a good sized headroom that has no boxy feel and they are airy with slightly diffused sound dispersion. The accuracy is superb with a holographic soundstage that has a good 3D spatial positioning suitable for gaming as well. They are tuned to produce extra immersiveness that excels in giving a full, enveloping sound.

Separation and Timbre

Separation is great and they are a well tuned hybrid that has great cohesion with no crosstalk issues. They are able to produce a full stereo sound that is wide with no hollowness and they do perform better with 4.4mm balanced output. Timbre here is organic, rich and breathy with an accurate timbre without any metallic, balanced armature timbre which is an improvement to the MS2 Pro.

Drivability

Rated at 17 ohms at 114 dB sensitivity, they are not sensitive and revealing IEM and do not pick up noise with low quality quality sources, which makes them a good everyday carry IEM. The My Lin is an easy to drive IEM that doesn’t need much driving power to have ample loudness but they do scale up well with better sources, giving a more detailed and clean overall sound. They match better with bright sources and it gives a more solid technicality while also increasing their dynamic range. They are not picky with the file selection and works well even with streaming but higher quality, mastered tracks do give improvements only marginally.

The Bass (Low)

The bass presents a boosted approach, with a clear emphasis on the mid-bass region. It delivers a natural, roomy presence with decent detail and texture with an organic quality that embodies the essence of a dynamic driver. The pace is slightly quick, with a tight slam that asserts authority when needed. Details here are decent and they do have a clean bass with bass layers presented in a clear manner. This tuning is natural and accurate and although it is north of neutral, they aren’t not for avid bassheads, but rather for those who want to feel the bass without it overpowering other frequencies. Sub-bass dives deep with a subtle lift, providing a natural rumble that creates an immersive, enveloping, and highly enjoyable listening experience.

The Mids

The midrange leans towards a neutral-to-warm presentation, offering an intimate and well balanced presentation with no major emphasis apart from just a gentle focus on the lower midrange transition and a smooth lift in the upper region. A pleasing warmth gives the mids a rich, full-bodied, and luscious character. Detail retrieval is superb, delivering great macro details with clarity and precision but a rather average micro. The body has good thickness, contributing to a full-bodied texture, while resolution remains high with a mild coloration that feels accurate yet lively. Vocals are well balanced where the upper midrange has a decent peak for brilliance, supported by a deep lower mids. However, the smooth upper midrange does slightly reduce bite and sparkle, resulting in a more inoffensive, musical sound. Lower range instruments perform admirably, though higher-range notes can lack a bit of edge for my personal taste.

The Highs

The high range adopts a flat tuning that remains smooth and inoffensive, yet retains clear presence thanks to a mild peak around 8kHz. Clarity is commendable, delivering sparkling highs with a slightly crisp decay. The laid-back performance makes it ideal for long listening sessions, with minimal harshness and sibilance and making it equally suited for metal and EDM alike. Treble heads may find the bite lacking, but for treble-sensitive listeners seeking a smooth sound that isn’t overly polite, the My Lin could be a perfect match. Timbre is surprisingly natural and accurate for a balanced armature driver and it carries a breathy, slightly piercing edge. Overall, the treble is balanced and relaxed in intensity, delivering a fatigue-free listen while subtly expanding the perceived clarity.

Comparisons

VS Hidizs MS2 Pro (99USD)

The MS2 Pro is what the My Lin is based on for their design, build and driver setup. Though being identical, the tuning of both are worlds apart in my opinion with the My Lin having a more organic, immersive and intimate sound versus the V shaped MS2 Pro that focuses more in the details and clarity.

The Quatio from the up and coming brand Kefine is a 2 dynamic drivers with 2 balanced armatures hybrid that is well received for their performance and value. They are priced similarly with the My Lin but the packaging of the My Lin is more lavish with the waifu freebies. Both have the option of tuning filters and the cable as well as the casing is better on Quatio.

• High range of the Quatio is smoother and more laid-back with a more organic approach while the My Lin is livelier

Synergy

The My Lin is a relatively easy match with most sources be it bright, warm or bassy but prefer I would prefer to match it with slightly warm sources and not a dry, clinical sound as it increases their musicalities for a more fun listening.
