Simgot EG280 | More Than Just For Gaming !

by | Sep 28, 2025 | IEM, Reviews

The Simgot EG280 is the latest from Simgot and is intended to be a gaming IEM, providing a better gaming experience. It is of a 1 + 1 config, comprising of a 10mm LCP dynamic driver, as well as a 6mm planar.

As expected with “gaming IEMs”, one can already imagine what aspects are being focused on. But truth be told, I was honestly suprised that the EG280 handles music listening experiences even better than other IEMs in this price range!

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 :

– Mild V-shaped with Harman-ish characteristic on the bass side

– Treble emphasized, with presence of sibilance, but fades away upon burn in

– Tonality is pseudo-warm, mostly felt it on the bass region but none from mids and up

————-

𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐬 :

– Overall provides an airy, cinematic experience in this region

– Positioning of instruments in this region is done where it is slightly further away, but still provides a good amount of intimacy, allowing diffused overtones to fill up the surrounding

– Lowerbass sounds bouncy and quick, with good amounts of overtone-synergistic effects, giving it some textural presentation and rumble

– Midbass overall provides good amount of body with no incidence of bloatyness

– 808s and kicks overall sound thumpy and well controlled. Has well executed diffusion

– With the Dongle DAC, the headroom of the track feels slightly bigger and overall gives the low-end more room to breathe

𝐕𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐬 :

– Positioning is on the recessed side with less dynamics

– Tonality is neutral

– Male vocals sound formal, intentive, but occasionally might not sound too intimate

– Female vocals sound more full and more soulful

– Sibilance is negligible in vocals

– With dongle DAC : overall position is pushed forward and more bright, dynamics will also be improved slightly

𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐬 :

– Instruments are in unison, complementing each other to fill up the experience

– (Pop) Synths specifically that are on the more digital profile sounds extremely fun

– (Orchestral) Instruments overall weave with one another, having no resistance or dissonance or abrasion with each other

  • Strings specifically sound interactive with the listening experience, very dynamic
  • Liyue Themes from Genshin Impact
  • Silksong : Enter Pharloom. Lace, Songclave

– With Dongle DAC : instruments overall will be presented with a more aggresive yet refined resolution

𝐔𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐛𝐥𝐞 :

– Notes in this region provides an airy experience and sounds quick and snappy

– First listen presents some sharp incidences of sibilance, but is almost non-existent after burn-in

– Percussions provides a natural lively timbre and organic sound

– Closed hats and cymbals for some reason really piqued me (jazz) and sounds very engaging

– Treble extension is good and allows good immersiveness without fatigue

With the dongle DAC, airyness sounds more natural and smoothened out, whilst still maintaining the crispiness

𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 :

Dynamics

========

Overall it’s a V-shaped IEM, only vocals experience some issues with intimacy and coherency

With the dongle DAC : vocal dynamics are improved as positioning is pushed forward

Soundstage

=========

Uuprisingly wide for the price, the presence of a big headroom aids in an immersive experience using the IEM

Imaging and seperation

==================

Accurate, and in terms of seperation they really nailed it with the context where 2 elements are so close to each other but provides a clear definition of one with the other

Detail retrieval

===========

Amazing macros, average micros. This pair was designed in favour of an immersive gaming experience, so expect very well performing macrodetails but you won’t purposely be presented with nuances of microdetails

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 :

To be honest with you, I had some expectations already and went in opinionated. What I didn’t expect that this thing exceeded what I thought, and especially on the musical side of things. Other than the vocals, for only 80USD, this IEM is definitely worth the price for both gaming, and music listening, as doing whichever also results in one thing – having an immersive experience.
